Veterinary Assistant

When your mother owns a veterinary clinic, you’re bound to end up working there in some capacity. Such is the case with Melissa, who has been helping out here at Animal Hospital of Lanesville for as long as they can remember. No worries, though – they are enjoying every minute of it!

As one of our veterinary assistants, Melissa has a particular interest in feline care. Some of their daily duties include cleaning rooms, doing laundry, drawing up vaccines and holding patients. Clinically, they enjoy doing ear mite tests, especially because it provides much-needed relief to patients who are suffering.

Outside of the clinic, Melissa has one fur baby of their own: a cat named Corn, who is quite the character. He will bite and scratch you, yet at the same time, demands constant attention. It’s not uncommon for Corn to follow people around, yelling, just for his own entertainment. He also loves to fetch and wants to play every morning.

Of Melissa’s many hobbies, video games rank #1. They especially recommend The World Ends with You, an incredible story with really fun and interesting gameplay (especially the DS version). They are also a big fan of Minecraft, Omori, and Final Fantasy VII.

Veterinary Assistant

Growing up in Georgetown, IN, Jack Drake spent a lot of his childhood in and out of the hospital. Now that he’s recovered, he draws inspiration from the care he received and enjoys providing that same level of attention to his own furry “patients” here at Animal Hospital of Lanesville.

Jack began his journey in the veterinary field while attending Purdue for his Bachelors in Animal Sciences. Upon graduating, he officially joined our team full time and hasn’t looked back since. Professionally, Jack enjoys the variety and volume of animals he gets to interact with. He loves playing a role in helping sick animals bounce back to live happy, healthy lives.

At home, Jack has a dog of his own – a cantankerous but lovable miniature pinscher named Zacky, who enjoys walks, sunshine, seeing friends and family, and of course, food. In his spare time, Jack likes hanging out with Zacky, taking long drives on country backroads, going to the movies with friends and rock climbing.

Office Coordinator

When Bre was a young child, you could usually find her glued to the television, watching Animal Planet and any vet shows she could find. This fascination with animal care carried through to her adulthood, ultimately inspiring a career-change that would fulfill a lifelong dream.

Prior to entering the veterinary field, Bre spent more than a decade as a floral designer. In 2021, when she reached a crossroads in her life and knew it was time for a change, she took the leap and joined the Animal Hospital of Lanesville team. In her role as Office Coordinator, Bre loves working behind the scenes to help make things easier for her colleagues and our clients. Snuggling with puppies and kittens is an added perk!

Outside of work, Bre lives with her husband, Eric, their two dogs, Echo and Buttons, and their two cats, Amelia and Spice, all of whom are rescues. She also has a bearded dragon named Bumpy. Echo is a total momma’s boy. Buttons is a sweet but needy girl. Amelia is fluffy and loves to cuddle, and Spice was found outside the clinic and now runs the house. Bre’s favorite hobbies include playing video games, drawing, and painting.

Veterinary Technician

Melissa was only a little girl when she decided that she would one day work hands-on with animals. The veterinary field has always called to her, and she knew she wouldn’t be satisfied doing anything else. That’s why Melissa became a Veterinary Technician! She’s a proud member of the Animal Hospital of Lanesville family .

Melissa is originally from New York, and volunteered at a local animal shelter during her high school years. She studied veterinary medicine for a time before moving to Kentucky in 2009, where she went back to school to study phlebotomy at Spencerian College. Next, Melissa landed a job at a veterinary clinic in Corydon, gaining invaluable skills that serve her well to this day. She moved to Indiana in 2011, and joined the Animal Hospital of Lanesville team in December of 2019. Melissa particularly likes performing blood draws and helping with surgical procedures, but her favorite part of her job is getting to meet new pet owners and their adorable companions every day.

When she’s not at work, Melissa likes spending time with family and friends, gardening, enjoying outdoor activities like four-wheeling and kayaking, and doting on her own pets at home. She and her husband have two young girls, and the family shares their lives with multiple animal companions. They have five cats and two outdoor strays that they care for, as well as three loveable dogs: Cooper the Beagle who is getting grumpier with old age; a Miniature Dachshund named Sophie; and a puppy named Tillie, adopted from the Fayette County Humane Society.

Veterinary Technician

Growing up on farm in the small town of Memphis, IN, Megan Weisenbach certainly had her fair share of animal interactions. She was especially fond of riding horses. After one particular incident during which one of the horses became injured, Megan watched in awe as the vet stitched him up. It was at that very moment she knew that caring for and working with animals would ultimately be her calling.

Megan attended Harrison College in Indianapolis, where she received her Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology in May of 2017. She remained with the clinic where she’d performed her externship for a few years before joining the Animal Hospital of Lanesville in early 2018. Her favorite thing to do professionally is surgery. She also enjoys puppy visits (though, who doesn’t?!?) and watching our younger patients grow up to become happy, healthy adults.

Outside of the clinic, Megan lives nearby with her own mini-zoo of animals. She is fur-mom to six dogs: Pistol, Shotgun, Chalupa, Sausage, Heifer and Marshmallow. She also owns a standard-bred horse named Redneck, whom she loves to ride, and a pig named Pig who (not surprisingly) loves to eat.

Megan’s hobbies include horseback riding, skiing, hunting, fishing, shooting clay pigeons, and pretty much anything else she can do outdoors.
